Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Pharmacy Technician is to provide pharmacy related functions or services under a licensed pharmacist’s direct supervision. Pharmacy technician measures, counts out, labels, mix, and records the dosage and amount of medications.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receiving refill requests or prescriptions and verify whether the information is accurate and complete.
  2. Inputting and filling medications as prescribed.
  3. Receiving and storing medications, verifying the quantities against raised invoice, and informing the supervisors about the inventory shortages and needs.
  4. Ordering, labeling, and counting stock of medications, supplies, and chemicals and entering stock list data into computer database.
  5. Preparing and processing medical insurance claim records and forms.
  6. Operating cash registers in order to accept payment.
  7. Responding to requests and questions and answering telephone calls.
  8. Support Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and our commitment to provide care to all Variety patients that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable.  Provide leadership and work with all staff to achieve the goals of the “Triple Aim” of healthcare reform—to improve the experience of care, improve health outcomes, and decrease healthcare costs.

Qualifications

 Education, Work Experience and Specialized Skills/Knowledge:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Bilingual in Spanish/English is required.
  3. Experience with ComputerRx software is preferred.
  4. Good decision-making and problem solving ability.
  5. Knowledge in basic mathematics to solve problems.
  6. High effective time management skills.
  7. Effective communication skills.
  8. Able to stand for very long times.
  9. Able to follow written and oral instructions efficiently and effectively.
  10. Retail pharmacy experience is preferred.

 

ADA Requirements:   

  1. Able to lift at least 25 pounds.
  2. Able to walk, bend, lift, and remain on feet for extended periods of time.
